The Minor League Cricket (MiLC), America's most extensive T20 championship, is set to return in August this year.
A total of 150 matches will take place in the championship which will be played till September. As many as 26 teams will feature in the tournament.
More than 400 US-based players have registered for players' draft which will take place later this month.
One of the most experienced T20 players in the world, Corey Anderson is eagerly looking forward to the MiLC. The former New Zealand all-rounder expressed that the tournament is important for the future of American cricket.
"This summer will be the biggest step forward in the history of American cricket. I can’t wait to play in MiLC," he said.
America’s first nationwide T20 championship saw its second season won by the
Seattle Thunderbolts will defend its title this year. They won the championship last year, claiming a $150,000 first-place prize by defeating the Atlanta Fire in the final.
Pakistani cricketers to play in America's Major Cricket League
Pakistani cricketers including Sami Aslam, Hammad Azam, Ehsan Adil, Saif Badar, Saad Ali and Mukhtar Ahmed will play in the American league.
Hammad and Eshan were picked up by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians in their overseas team, MI New York.
Sami, who left Pakistan for the USA to seek cricket career there, has been picked up by Texas Super Kings which is an overseas team of the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.
Young Pakistani cricketer Saif , who also featured in Pakistan Super League (PSL), will play for Bollywood star Sharukh Khan-owned Los Angeles Knight Riders. It is an overseas team of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
On the other hand, two other Pakistani cricketers - Saad and Mukhtar - were also picked up in the players' draft. They both will represent Washington Freedom in the league.
